You’ve seen it all, and used it too; liquid, powder, even whipped. What do you choose? What covers best and lasts longest?
The three types of foundation include:
- Liquid. Women, for years, have used liquid foundation because it gave them the most coverage. Liquid foundation is easy to apply and easy to buy. Found in most department stores, many women purchase the liquid variety because of this ease, never really thinking beyond the convenience. Still, liquid foundation can “melt” can “pale out your skin” as you go through the day, and can even make your skin appear uneven. Many women use it, however, because anything else makes their skin look dry and crackly.
- Powder. Mineral foundation is the new thing. It takes care of melting, and paling of skin, and can even be applied to make skin appear even. It isn’t heavy like foundation, and you almost feel as if you’re not wearing a foundation at all. Pores breathe easier, but sensitive skin may find mineral foundation less of a choice and more of a problem. Powder handles better in hot weather but can make your skin look dry if you already have dry skin.
- Whipped foundation is like receiving an air-brushed finish through a spray. It feels light on the face and keeps your skin free of bacteria. Whipped foundation lasts longer than the conventional liquid.
Getting the most out of your foundation isn’t as much of a trick as knowing the ins and outs of getting the best foundation for your skin type and environment—a real treat.
