Getting the Most Out of your Foundation

You’ve seen it all, and used it too; liquid, powder, even whipped. What do you choose? What covers best and lasts longest?

The three types of foundation include:

  • Liquid. Women, for years, have used liquid foundation because it gave them the most coverage. Liquid foundation is easy to apply and easy to buy. Found in most department stores, many women purchase the liquid variety because of this ease, never really thinking beyond the convenience. Still, liquid foundation can “melt” can “pale out your skin” as you go through the day, and can even make your skin appear uneven. Many women use it, however, because anything else makes their skin look dry and crackly.
  • Powder. Mineral foundation is the new thing. It takes care of melting, and paling of skin, and can even be applied to make skin appear even.  It isn’t heavy like foundation, and you almost feel as if you’re not wearing a foundation at all. Pores breathe easier, but sensitive skin may find mineral foundation less of a choice and more of a problem. Powder handles better in hot weather but can make your skin look dry if you already have dry skin.
  • Whipped foundation is like receiving an air-brushed finish through a spray. It feels light on the face and keeps your skin free of bacteria. Whipped foundation lasts longer than the conventional liquid.

Getting the most out of your foundation isn’t as much of a trick as knowing the ins and outs of getting the best foundation for your skin type and environment—a real treat.

A Sad Good-Bye to the Chicago International Documentary Festival

The Chicago International Documentary Festival began in 2003. Chicago is an exciting city with wonderful restaurants and nightlife. The festival was well received and quickly became a popular festival. It received community support and documentary filmmakers from around the world participated. The festival received more than 100 film entries each year. The festival was able to provide amazing activities and entertainment for the public to enjoy. Chicago is a popular city to visit and the festival drew substantial crowds. Chicago is a large city with large city budget problems. During these tough economic times, the city of Chicago is attempting to reduce its budget. This has prompted cuts for programs that were note considered essential.

In 2009, the board members of the Chicago International Documentary Festival issued a statement announcing the 2009 festival was cancelled due to lack of funding. The board members indicated they did not want to sacrifice the quality of the festival and felt it was necessary to cancel the festival for that year. The announcement was eventually amended to indicate the festival would be discontinued until further notice. The Chicago International Documentary Festival has succumbed to budgets cuts and the lack of alternative funding. It appears a comeback is unlikely and there seems to be little effort to revive the festival.

While there are many festivals that have discontinued to lack of funding, many of them were small and obscure. Many cities are experiencing financial difficulties and this may lead to the demise of many more film festivals. It is best to enjoy them while you can. Fans of the Chicago festival did not expect its sudden demise. Maybe one day the Chicago International Documentary Festival will make its return, until then a sad good-bye to this wonderful festival. Chicago is still a great city and this festival is missed by many.

Deducting Your Business Expenses

Doing your taxes is never a fun task, but it has to be done. You’d be surprised at what business owners are missing out on when it comes to deducting business expenses.

For instance, if you’re a property manager working for a Long Beach property management company, you likely have quite a few tax deductions out there just waiting for you to claim it.
Not many people know this, but not claiming your deductions could actually end up costing you some money. Knowing how to deduct your business expenses could be really beneficial to you and your company.

First things first, never throw away receipts that deal with your business expenses. The same goes for canceled checks. Just hang on to those. This is where having great organizational skills will comes in handy.

With business expenses, you will file those on your IRS Schedule E. For property management companies, you could only list three properties on each sheet. If you have more, you’ll have to fill out a sheet for each property. It might take a few extra minutes, but it’ll be worth it.

One line E of your tax return, enter your total income from all your properties.

On lines five through 18 you will deduct your expenses from your property. Line 19 is the grand total. Then on line 20 you put down your depreciation expense.

Your grand told will go on line 21. Just add up lines 10 and 20 to get your total.

On line 23 you will subtract line 21 from line 3, which is the amount of money you received in rent.

You will put your total net income from all the properties listed on line 24.

On line 17 of your IRS form is where you will add your income or loss.

And now you’re finished deducting your business expenses. It wasn’t so hard now was it?

Looking for the Perfect Kitchen for Cooking?

Cooking is a very personal skill for many people. Some people love to prepare complex feasts that take hours to prepare and even more hours to enjoy. Other people go for the easy in and easy out version of cooking and limit their expertise to microwave meals that are ready in minutes and as tasty as the cardboard packages they arrived from the market in.

In other words, you either love cooking or you don’t. There are few who enjoy some sort of middle ground on-again, off-again love affair with cooking. The people who love cooking though are the very people who believe that a grand meal should be prepared and served in rooms that are equally grand. This means that great kitchens are a priority in the homes they buy, lease, or rent.

Of course, not everyone has time to drive around searching for the perfect kitchen for prepping meals of all kinds to suit all tastes. This is where a great property management service like Long Beach Property Management come into play. They can take the guesswork out of your search for the perfect kitchen.

Here are a few things you might want to have in mind before you turn to a property manager to aid you in your search.

1) How much money are you willing to spend each month on the property and corresponding dream kitchen?
2) Are you cooking with gas or electric? Hey, it matters!
3) Do you need space for cooking and entertaining indoors, outdoors, or both?
4) Are there features other than a kitchen that matter to you? Are there any more important than the kitchen (not that this is even possible in a perfect world)?

Asking the right questions of your property manager will ensure that you get the kitchen (and corresponding property) that is best suited to your needs, wants, and tastes.

My Search for a Long Lost Love

Contributed by Arun HL

There was a point in my life when I thought I had it all. I had a career, a personal life, great friends and a wonderful significant other. While I loved having it all, I took it for granted. I started to get comfortable, and I let that special someone slip away.

While for the past few years I have wallowed in my pity, stayed single for periods of time, and tried serial dating, I have never found someone who was the same as my first love, the one who completed my life and allowed me to actually say “I have it all.”

I had the crazy idea that I could try to find my long lost love and see if we could give it another chance. I searched on Google and other sites, trying to find the right contact information. It wasn’t until I ran into a site called Canada 411 that I was able to search for my long lost love using his name and matching it with public records. This gave me a trail I could follow.

It’s amazing what the Internet can do for you when you know how to work it. There I sat with a physical address, email address, and phone number, all leading me to my one true love. After allowing the butterflies in my stomach to calm down and the giddy feeling I had to pass, I choose to make that first call.

While I’d like to say that we talked for hours, fell hopelessly in love again, and all was happily ever after, it wasn’t. We did talk for a few hours, got caught up and have since stayed in close contact, but we will never share what he had before. It never hurts to try, doing nothing is what can really cause you pain!

What You Should Know About Betting Odds

Soccer betting, like all other betting games, involves certain odds that you should be aware of before you decide to bet. You can either bet with a group and with other bookies, or you can simply choose to bet with various sportsbooks available, which are similar to online casino games. Once you are aware of your odds, you have a better chance of enjoying a stress free game. Like any other type of gambling, just be sure to never get emotionally involved, as the loss of high amounts can be devastating.

Keep in mind that all odds are based on the actual scheduled 90 minutes of the game. The scheduled time does not include penalties and extra time. At the end of each game, you may have the option to buy into the additional time allocated. If for any reason the game is postponed and you have bet on the game, you can have the bet canceled with mutual decision, otherwise the non runner slot will apply to the next scheduled game, as long as it is before the end of the week. Be sure to look out for these types of cancellations or postponements, as this will help you increase your odds of gain.

All games which end prior to the 90 minute allocated slot are considered void and you will stand to lose money, depending on which sportsbook you are using. However, if a game is televised after the game date and it goes over your weekly slot, your bet will stand and you will have a chance to complete your bet prior to televising. For additional information, be sure to do your homework before you bet on any game, and keep your betting amount to a minimum. Minimum bets are a good way to decrease your odds of losing a large amount, and it will be a lot less painful for you.
