Recreation: Walking for Your Happiness

The advantages of walking go much further than being physically and mentally healthy. Walking can repair anyone’s spirit whether they are believers or unbelievers because it allows you time to find the answers to the deeper questions. Time apart from the daily pressure of life while engaging in physical activity offers a better chance of discovering the answers that you need. Individuals working on issues such as poor self-esteem, positive thinking, or motivational issues can benefit from the mood enhancing hormones that walking creates in the brain.

Walking can mimic the clear mind that yoga provides, by creating a peaceful mind. Having a peaceful mind allows you to the root of problems and find the happiness that daily stressors take away. A reconnection between mind and body allows you to lose yourself in the breathing and movement of walking, which makes it feel effortless. Some individuals have found that walking on a treadmill allows them the opportunity to take the mind into a soft meditation, which lessens the emotional tornado that they are on.

Walking outdoors does not allow for the soft meditation like the treadmill, but some people find it comforting to appreciate nature. Watching the trees blow in the wind and small animals scamper around sheds light on a part of life that is not made up of demanding bosses and luring deadlines.

For couples who are experience a lack of communication in the home, walking together naturally lead to sharing. Enjoying a post-dinner walk with your significant other will allow time to talk about the day and any worries that are arising. Since walking creates endorphins in the brain, the conversation is more likely to remain positive. Regardless of age or fitness level, everyone can benefit from the effects of walking. If motivation is an ongoing problem, finding a walking buddy will help increase your chances of sticking to it.

In the fast-paced world of today, there is not a lot of time to relax and let the stress of the day melt away. Stress is natural, but if it is not controlled, it can lead to serious health problems. Obesity, heart disease, and other serious health-related problems can occur when you let stress take over. In order to keep stress at a minimum and take control, there are several activities you can participate in to help.

Deep breathing is one of the easiest stress relievers. Breathing exercises offer many benefits for your health. Taking a series of deep breaths throughout the day helps oxygenate your blood, makes you more alert, and relaxes your muscles. This stress relieving activity can be done quickly and without drawing a lot of attention. Meditation is a stress relieving activity that expands on deep breathing. When in a meditative state, your mind and body functions similar to resting. Meditation offers other benefits you cannot achieve in a fully awake state such as the release of hormones that help improve your health.

Meditation can be difficult for some because they are unable to focus on nothing. Guided Imagery can be used to replace meditation by focusing your mind on an image to relax and playing natural sounds in the background. Natural sounds can promote added stress relief and provide a more engrossed experience. Most people choose to exercise to help control their weight for a more physically attractive and healthy body, but stress management and exercise go hand-in-hand. Exercise offers a distraction from stress and gives the body a chance to work out its frustration by releasing endorphins in your brain.

Even just a quick step back and taking things a little more slow to relax helps. Maybe you need to experience the lifestyle of a true southern? Florida vacation rentals are the way to go for relaxation and taking pleasure in experiencing sweet southern hospitality.

No matter what stresses you have in your life, there are ways to combat the effects it has on your mind and body. If you cannot engage in the stress relieving activities, try listening to calming music on your way to and from work or turn on a light-hearted movie. It does not matter which activity you choose as long as you are relieving yourself of the stress each day brings.
